As we walked along there was a sudden burst of activity. A deer, sleeping just off the path, spooked and ran up the hill deeper into the trees. She looked back over her shoulder, pausing for a moment, flicking her ears…we disturbed her resting spot.
Our second walk of the day prompted me to bring my camera. Noticed wild mint (I think!), fleabane, common buttercups, spotted knapweed, yarrow, bittersweet nightshade and pale touch-me-not. Milkweed and thistle are coming. It's a beautiful time of year to wander any path…..how lucky I am to have this one right outside my door.
