A Non-Green Thumb.....

My mom died in June 2010. She was 89 years old and lived a full, good life. My sister and I were "prepared" because she'd had a difficult last four months.....but no matter how "prepared" you are, you are never ready to lose someone you loved.

At her visitation there were some lovely plants to bring color and life to our evening gathering full of hugs, tears and memories. As we began to leave the funeral home I talked to my sister and decided to take one of the peace lillies home with me so we loaded it in my car.

That was June 2010. This is April 2024 and in spite of the fact that I've never had any luck keeping indoor plants alive this lovely greenery just keeps greening along. I've re-potted it a couple times and water it about once every 10 days. I don't think it has the "energy" it did the first five years or so but today I noticed that there was a small bloom poking up from one corner.

These flowers don't show up often, but I always smile and think to myself "Hi Mom!" I know she'd be pleased.
