46 Divided by 15

Dave and I have been married for 46 1/2 years.

We've lived in four different apartments at points during our marriage.

We've owned nine houses from New Jersey to Wisconsin to Illinois to New Jersey to Delaware and back to Wisconsin.

We spent two years living on a sailboat.

And here we go again!

I am an expert at packing. And I am an expert at sorting things to put in a garage sale where I can earn ten cents on the dollar. And our friends have learned to use pencil when they put our names and address in their address books. Our on-going joke is that we never repaint a room….when it needs a fresh coat we just move. Most of the moves were related to job opportunities and transfers for Dave. Some were by choice.

So the adventure continues - this time it's on to our first condo! I'd say we were "downsizing"….but the  condo is actually larger than our house (at least if you don't count the fact that our darling little Milwaukee house has a full basement and walk- up attic).

The thing that puzzles me is that when we moved to Milwaukee in 2001 we came with very little (moving to an apartment from a boat means you are not bringing a whole lot of possessions with you). So how on earth did we collect SO much "stuff" since we've been here? Amazing.

I am convinced stuff breeds and multiplies during the night when you sleep. That's the only explanation.

Oh well….time to find another box.
